The movie was originally intended to be part of the 'Cloverfield' universe, but that idea was later dropped by Abrams
The first trailer for the new J.J. Abrams-produced film Overlord has been released – watch the terrifying preview clip below.
Abrams’ production company Bad Robot are producing the upcoming movie, which is set during the Second World War. The films follows a group of American troops who land in France during the war, with the soldiers later stumbling upon a horrific Nazi experiment which appears to have the ability to turn people into zombie-like creatures.
Overlord, which has been directed by Julius Avery, was originally intended to be part of the Cloverfield universe, but Abrams ruled out its affiliation with the franchise back in April.

Starring Wyatt Russell and Jovan Adepo, the first trailer for Overlord – which is soundtracked by AC/DC‘s song ‘Hell’s Bells’ – has been released today (July 18). You can see it below.
Overlord is set for release on November 9.
Speaking to NME back in February, Abrams said Overlord was “a crazy movie”.
“First of all, that’s something I can’t wait for you to see, because the director, Julius Avery, has done an amazing job on it,” the director and producer remarked. “But the specifics? We should wait and see. But that’s a crazy movie.”
