Peter Andre to star in ‘David Brent: Life On The Road’

Andre shared picture of himself on set with Ricky Gervais yesterday (November 30)

Peter Andre will make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming David Brent film.

Titled David Brent: Life On The Road, the film is set 12 years after The Office and follows Brent, now a travelling salesman, as he takes his band on a self-financed UK tour. As well as starring, Gervais is the film’s writer-director. The Office‘s co-creator Stephen Merchant is not involved.

Andre posted a picture of himself with Ricky Gervais online yesterday in his first full day of work since being eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend.

“On set with @rickygervais #brentsback. Great first day back post strictly. P.s thanks to everybody for their awesome support” Andre wrote to his 178,000 Instagram followers

Additionally, a source told the Daily Mirror: ‘Peter loved Strictly but it has been a lot of pressure and it has taken it’s toll. Having a part in Ricky Gervais’s new film has come at the perfect time. It’s his first part in a film, it’s given him a chance to have a go at acting.”

Shooting on the film started in November and will continue to the end of the year at various locations in and around London and Slough. Other cast members include Kevin Bishop, Plebs‘ Tom Basden and This Is England ’90‘s Jo Hartley. Ben Bailey Smith, who rapped alongside David Brent on his song ‘Equality Street’, will return as Dom.

David Brent: Life On The Road is set for release in cinemas in August 2016. Gervais recently suggested he was writing original songs for the film with Chris Martin, but there is no mention of the Coldplay frontman in today’s announcement.
