Pharrell, Gwen Stefani team up to record original song for ‘Paddington’ movie

Titled 'Shine', the pair's collaboration will appear on the soundtrack of the forthcoming comedy

Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani have teamed up to record a new original song for the Paddington movie.

Titled ‘Shine’, the pair’s latest collaboration will appear on the soundtrack to the forthcoming family comedy film, which stars Nicole Kidman, Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters. The much-loved bear created by Michael Bond has been brought to life with a combination of CGI and animatronics, and is voiced by Skyfall star Ben Whishaw.

“What a wonderful opportunity, as a parent, to contribute to something as classic, authentic and generational to all of our lives as Paddington Bear,” Williams said of the collaboration, while Stefani added: “I am honoured to join forces with Pharrell and be part of bringing this beloved classic to life for Paddington’s next big adventure.”

Williams and Stefani previously teamed up for the former NERD frontman’s solo hit ‘Can I Have It Like That’, as well as numerous solo offerings from Stefani, including her US Number One smash ‘Hollaback Girl’ and her latest single ‘Start The Fire’. They also appear together as coaches on The Voice in the US.

Produced by Harry Potter‘s David Heyman, Paddington marks the first ever big screen outing for Michael Bond’s marmalade-scoffing bear from darkest Peru. It opens in UK cinemas this Friday (November 28) before getting a US release on January 16, 2015.
