Pierce Brosnan calls for Tom Hardy to be the next James Bond

Daniel Craig will star as 007 in the next film after some speculation, but it's still likely that it'll be his final outing as Bond

Pierce Brosnan has endorsed Tom Hardy for the role of James Bond.

A number of actors have been linked to the famous role as 007 ever since current Bond actor Daniel Craig first expressed doubts about his continued involvement in the franchise back in October 2015. However, Craig finally committed to making another Bond film two years later, with the as-yet-untitled film set to be directed by Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle.

Craig’s future as Bond beyond the forthcoming film is still undecided, but former Bond actor Brosnan has now given his take on who could replace Craig once he finally exits the franchise – marking out Taboo and Mad Max: Fury Road star Hardy as a “good” fit for Bond.

“I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it,” Brosnan told The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine. “You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond.”

Brosnan was also full of praise for Craig, who will take the helm once again with Bond 25 – which is set for release next year.

“Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond,” he said. “He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.”

Helena Bonham Carter has recently been linked to a key villain role in Bond 25.
