Producer confirms ‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’ sequel

Henry Normal also says there'll be a new series of 'Mid Morning Matters'

A sequel to Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa is in the works, according to the film’s producer.

Henry Normal has told the Guardian that there are plans to release a follow-up Partridge film as well as a new series of Mid Morning Matters for Sky Atlantic and another Sky special.

“We are planning a sequel [to Alpha Papa],” he said. “Yes, that will be great. We are also looking at doing more Mid Morning Matters and another Sky special, a little bit like Coast with Alan Partridge, expect I don’t think he goes out of Norfolk.

“I think it’s things of interest in Norfolk, that’s the general theme. We start writing now. I think we make it at the end of summer.”

Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan is also set to star in a second season of The Trip this year. The first series of the show featured Coogan and co-star Rob Brydon playing exaggerated versions of themselves as they journeyed on a restaurant tour of the UK. For the sequel, The Trip To Italy, they will embark on a six-stop tour of Italian restaurants. The show, what starts on BBC Two in the UK tonight (April 4) is directed by Michael Winterbottom, who also collaborated with the pair on the film A Cock And Bull Story.
