‘Real Steel’ retains top spot at US box office

Hugh Jackman's fighting robots see off competition for a second week

Real Steel has retained the Number One position in the US box office.

Shawn Levy’s sci-fi blockbuster, which stars Hugh Jackman alongside fighting robots, took $16.3 million (£10.3 million) on its second weekend, seeing off competition from the remakes of Footloose and The Thing.

Rounding off the top five films are The Ides Of March and family-friendly feature Dolphin Tale.

Next week, Real Steel will face challenges from new releases in the shape of supernatural sequel Paranormal Activity 3 and swashbuckling epic The Three Musketeers.
