'RED 2' doesn't arrive in UK cinemas until August 2
A third RED film is already in the works – even though RED 2 hasn’t been released yet.
Movie studio Summit Entertainment have hired screenwriters Jon and Eric Hoeber to pen a script for RED 3, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. The Hoeber brothers also wrote RED and RED 2.
The original RED, which stands for “Retired and Extremely Dangerous”, starred Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich and came out in 2010. This tongue-in-cheek “golden oldies” action flick proved popular with cinema-goers, grossing a shade under $200m (£125m) worldwide.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins have been added to the cast for RED 2, which opens in UK cinemas on August 2. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch the trailer.
Summit have apparently decided to push ahead with the third film early after being “supremely encouraged” by RED 2‘s high test scores. Deals with Willis and the rest of the cast have yet to be made, but filming could begin as soon as next January (2014) if the script is up to scratch, says The Hollywood Reporter.
