Reese Witherspoon confirms her ‘Legally Blonde’ chihuahua has died

Moonie the chihuahua played Bruiser Woods in the popular 2001 comedy movie

Moonie, the chihuahua from classic Reese Witherspoon comedy film Legally Blonde, has passed away.

Witherspoon shared the sad news with her Instagram followers earlier this evening (11 March). Moonie played Bruiser Woods, the canine companion of Witherspoon’s character Elle Woods, in the perennially popular 2001 movie and its 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde: Red, White And Blonde.

“With a sad heart, I have to let all the #LegallyBlonde fans know that Bruiser Woods (also known as Moonie) passed away yesterday. He was a sweet little Chihuahua who was very loved. I will never forget all the days we spent together … I’m sure his tail is wagging in the sky. Sending love to his trainer, the wonderful @tailsticks #RIPBruiser,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, Moonie’s trainer Sue Chip revealed that he had lived to the impressive age of 18 years old – the equivalent of 88 in human years.

“Thanks @reesewitherspoon for all the good wishes,” she wrote on Instagram. “Moonie (#BruiserWoods) was a great little dog that I had the good fortune to train and work on both Legally Blonde films. He lived in L.A. With another trainer from #studioanimalservices and everyone who met him loved him! #RIP #legallyblonde #ellewoods #reesewitherspoon”
