Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released on DVD next month (April).
Disney CEO Robert A. Igler announced the release date if April 5 at the company’s annual shareholder meeting yesterday. British fans will have to wait a little longer with a UK release date set for April 18.
The DVD and Blu-Ray release will be packed with extras including an in-depth documentary shot behind the scenes of J.J. Abrams’ film plus deleted scenes and interviews with the cast and crew.
These bonus features include:
Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey – a feature-length documentary telling the complete story behind the making of The Force Awakens, featuring in-depth footage and exclusive interviews with the actors and filmmakers.
The Story Awakens: The Table Read – Interview feature focusing on the cast’s first day together reading the script.
Building BB-8 – A look at how the crew created the loveable droid.
Crafting Creatures – A similar look at how the other creatures of the ‘Force Awakens’ universe were made.
Blueprint of a Battle: The Snow Fight – Forensic inight into the lightsabre battle between Rey and Kylo Ren.
John Williams: The Seventh Symphony – Iconic composer shares his memories of working on historical Star Wars films and The Force Awakens.
Since its release in mid-December, J.J. Abrams’ film has raked in over $2 billion at the global box office, making it the third highest-grossing film of all time behind James Cameron’s Avatar and Titanic.
The Force Awakens‘ new characters played by Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) are all returning for Episode VIII.
