Ricky Gervais fuses ‘Braveheart with Simon & Garfunkel shit’ on new David Brent single

First track from 'Life On The Road' is due in July

Ricky Gervais has announced that he will release a single as his Office character David Brent.

Gervais reprises his famous role for upcoming movie, David Brent: Life On The Road, which opens in UK cinemas on August 19.

The writer-actor had previously revealed he will release a David Brent album to accompany his character’s film debut and stated that it will feature “15 [or] 20 tracks”.

Titles for the Brent tracks, which Gervais has written with Andy Burrows of Razorlight and We Are Scientists, include ‘Native American’ and ‘Please Don’t Make Fun Of The Disabled’.

Gervais has not confirmed the title of his single from the album, but said on Twitter that it will be released in July. He later told a fan that he has “sort of fused Braveheart with Simon & Garfunkel” with the track.

Gervais originally portrayed the character of David Brent in The Office from 2001-2003, later reviving the role for charity specials and a YouTube series.

The first trailer for David Brent: Life On The Road has been revealed and sees Gervais’ character in typically inappropriate form.

Gervais released new film Special Correspondents via Netflix last month (April 29).
