Ridley Scott teases ‘Prometheus 2’ and the ‘Blade Runner’ sequel

'Gladiator' director's next epic 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' is released December 26

Ridley Scott has spoken about his plans for the Blade Runner sequel and the script for Prometheus 2 currently in development.

His next epic Exodus: Gods and Kings stars Christian Bale as the Old Testament leader Moses and is released in cinemas December 26.

In an interview with Yahoo, Scott revealed he’s still working on the follow up to Blade Runner with Harrison Ford: “It’s on the charts, I can’t say when that would be yet, because of [Ford’s] thing with ‘Star Wars’. It’s a sequel – it’s what happens next. It’s quite surprisingly clever.”

Scott also spoke about his other sequel project. Prometheus exposed the origins of the xeonomorph aliens but the director said they won’t be making a return: “The beast is done. Cooked. I got lucky meeting Giger all those years ago. It’s very hard to repeat that. I just happen to be the one who forced it through because they said it’s obscene. They didn’t want to do it and I said, ‘I want to do it, it’s fantastic’.”

The Gladiator director added: “But after four, I think it wears out a little bit. There’s only so much snarling you can do. I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.”

Pushed on what fans can expect from the story Scott explained: “You’ll probably have to go with Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender’s android David – without his head. Find out how he gets his head back on!”

Scott is currently in pre-production on his next film The Martian scheduled for release next year. It will star Matt Damon as an astronaut struggling to survive after being stranded on Mars.
