Robert Pattinson has revealed that the final film in the Twilight franchise has a “very strange” ending.
Back in August (2012), it was revealed that the film’s ending deviates from the original novel by author Stephanie Meyer. Meyer and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg are said to have “dreamed up” the new denouement over dinner.
Discussing the film’s ending with Hollywood Life, Pattinson said: “It’s very strange, the ending, but it kind of works in a very bizarre way. You don’t normally get a story where everyone has a happy ending. Which sounds kind of ridiculous but even if you tried to write a happy ending it’s kind of impossible. But Stephanie kind of figured out the throughlines to make everyone have a happy ending. Which creates this very odd drama at the end. The ending is really sweet, it’s probably the sweetest moment in the whole film. It’s good.”
Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart have just begun their worldwide press tour for the final Twilight movie. Titled Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the film gets its UK premiere on November 14 before opening in cinemas on November 16. You can watch the latest trailer below.
Earlier this month (October 2012), it was reported that the makers of Twilight are already hatching plans for a film or TV spin-off. This would not feature Pattinson and Stewart, but “merely [be] set in the same world as the one in the movies”.
