The festive comedy is released in the US on November 7

A new trailer has been released online for the festive comedy A Merry Friggin’ Xmas starring Robin Williams. The slapstick road trip tale is released in the US on November 7.

The film is one of several the late actor and comedian completed before his death in August. The actor will also appear as Teddy Roosevelt in Night At The Museum sequel Secret Of The Tomb released in cinemas this Christmas.

In A Merry Friggin’ Xmas, Boyd Mitchler (Joel McHale) takes his family to spend a dreaded Christmas with his father Mitch (Williams). But when Boyd arrives and realises he’s left all his son’s presents at home he embarks on an eight-hour overnight round trip with Mitch in a bid to save the family Christmas.

Williams committed suicide in August. It was reported he had been battling depression following his diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease.

Steve Martin starred with Williams in a Broadway production of Samuel Beckett’s play Waiting For Godot. Leading the tributes at the time of his passing, the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels star tweeted: “I could not be more stunned by the loss of Robin Williams, mensch, great talent, acting partner, genuine soul.”

Director Steven Spielberg said, “Robin was a lightning storm of comic genius and our laughter was the thunder that sustained him. He was a pal and I can’t believe he’s gone.”

Also starring Jeffrey Tambor, Oliver Platt and Clark Duke, a UK release date for A Merry Friggin’ Xmas is yet to be confirmed. Watch the trailer below.
