Ron Burgundy – Will Ferrell’s fictional newscaster from Anchorman – stars in a new series of TV adverts for US car brand Dodge. Watch them below.
In one advert, Burgundy promotes the Dodge Durango by boasting that its glove compartment “comfortably fits two turkey sandwiches or 70 packs of gum”, while in another Burgundy compares the SUV’s 360 horsepower to a real-life horse “with one horse power”. Turning to the horse, Burgundy notes: “That makes you feel pretty dumb, doesn’t it?”
The TV adverts are part of what Paramount is calling an “epic partnership” with Dodge in the lead-up to the release of the new Anchorman movie. Burgundy will also appear in co-branded advertising content online and in print.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens in UK cinemas on December 20 and follows ’70s newscaster Burgundy as he launches a comeback on a 24-hour network in ’80s New York. Steve Carell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate have all reprised their roles from the first Anchorman film, while James Marsden appears as a rival news anchor and Kristen Wiig has also joined the cast as the wife of Carell’s character, Brick.
In the meantime, Burgundy will release his tell-all autobiography, Let Me Off At The Top!: My Classy Life And Other Musings, on November 19.
