Great Odin’s Raven! Ron Burgundy returns in trailer for new podcast

Will Ferrell treats fans to a reprise of his iconic role

Will Ferrell returns as Ron Burgundy in a trailer for a new podcast that sees the Anchorman character taking on hosting duties.

Ferrell first introduced the character in the 2004 hit movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, before returning in the 2013 sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

The new podcast, simply titled The Ron Burgundy podcast is a collaborative project by iHeartMedia and Funny Or Die. It’ll launch on February 7, with new episodes to be released every Thursday.

In the teaser trailer, Burgundy asks a range of random “hard questions” that tackle climate change, Lars von Trier and more. It’s then revealed that the questions are being directed at someone dressed as a chicken. You can watch it below.

Back in December, Ferrell revealed that he thought his Christmas movie Elf could ruin his career before it became immortalised as a Christmas classic.

“Yeah there were moments,” Ferrell told James Cordon on The Late Late Show. “The first two weeks of shooting were kind of all the exteriors in New York and so, you know, still kind of discovering what this movie’s going to be and running around New York City in yellow tights.

“People recognising me from Saturday Night Live going, ‘Are you okay? What’s going on?’ and thinking to myself this is either going to be a home run or people are going to go, ‘Whatever happened to you? Why did you do that one about the elf?’”

He also revealed how James Caan, who portrays Walter Hobbs, wasn’t a big fan of his performance. However, he reserved his judgement once it was clear that the film would prove to be a success.
