Russell Brand lines up spooky comedy ‘The Hauntrepreneur’

New project comes after star's failed 'Rentaghost' revival

Russell Brand has signed up for spooky new project The Hauntrepreneur.

The film, currently in development by Paramount, would see Brand play the title character, who helps a family adjust to a new town by creating a haunted house filled with unusual characters, according to Variety.

High Fidelity writer Scott Rosenberg sold the idea to the studio to the studio as a spec script in October, and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production team are on board. It is currently now looking for a director.

This is not the first time Brand has tried to get a ghostly movie project off the ground. He previously tried and failed to get a remake of 80s children’s TV show Rentaghost off the ground. He can next be seen on the big screen opposite Tom Cruise in the adaptation of metal musical Rock Of Ages, and will also appear in Diablo Cody‘s as-yet-untitled directorial debut alongside Octavia Spencer and Julianne Hough.

He has also been setting up a new series with US cable channel FX.
