Striker recently broke the record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games (11)
Hollywood is reportedly interested in turning the ‘rags to riches’ story of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy into a blockbuster film.
Five years ago Vardy was playing for lowly Halifax Town in the seventh tier of English football before fine goalscoring form led to moves to Fleetwood Town and then Leicester City. Vardy recently broke the record for scoring in the most consecutive Premier League games (11). He also earned his first England international cap this year.
A Warner Brothers source has allegedly confirmed to The Daily Star that movie studios are looking to turn the story into a film, saying: “There is a lot of excitement about the Vardy project because companies have been looking at a new feel-good picture like [1989 baseball movie] Field Of Dreams for some time.”
“When the research was done it was realised that soccer is very much attracting attention all over the States now,” the source allegedly added.
The Star also suggest that Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon are being considered for the role of Vardy, adding: “The only question mark is whether the part of Vardy should be played by an American or Englishman. There is an argument for either option.”
Speaking about the possibility of a film, Vardy recently told The Guardian: “Wowzers. What’s happening in life? But if that’s what they want to do, then so be it.”
