Oscar producers have performed a U-turn and allowed Sacha Baron Cohen to appear at this year’s award ceremony dressed as his General Aladeen character, following a prior snub.
Cohen had previously been told he was barred from attending the Oscars dressed as the character from his up-coming movie The Dictator.
But, as Entertainment Weekly reports, Oscar producer Brian Grazer has given the green light for the actor to appear as his new alter-ego tonight (Sunday Febraury 26).
He said:”We’re thrilled to have him and he’ll be on the red carpet dressed as The Dicator.”
Cohen immediately informed his followers on Twitter of his “victory”, with a picture of himself as General Aladeen holding two tickets to the event and a golden gun.
He also tweeted:
Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea. What I am trying to say here is that the Academy have surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass! TODAY OSCAR, TOMORROW OBAMA!
The Dictator opens in UK cinemas on March 18.
