‘Saw’ director James Wan in talks for ‘Fast And Furious 7’

'Fast And Furious 6' drives into cinemas on May 24 but a seventh flick is already in the works

Saw director James Wan is being lined up for the seventh film in the Fast And Furious series.

Fast And Furious 6 is due to drive into cinemas on May 24 steered by Justin Lin, who also directed the third, fourth and fifth films in the car chase franchise. However, Lin has recently revealed that he won’t be returning for the next instalment.

According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has “begun negotiations” with Wan about taking over the director’s chair. A deal is apparently expected before the end of the week.

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are both confirmed for Fast And Furious 7, but there is no word yet on whether Dwayne Johnson will be returning too. The trio star in Fast And Furious 6 alongside British actor Luke Evans, who plays a new villain called Owen Shaw. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch the sixth film’s trailer.

Aussie filmmaker Wan, 36, directed the original 2004 Saw movie after devising the film’s concept with screenwriter Leigh Whannell. He’s served as a producer on every subsequent Saw film as well as directing horror flicks like Dead Silence and Insidious. Fast And Furious 6 would be his first project outside the genre.
