Scarlett Johansson returning for ‘Iron Man 3’?

Reports suggest the star will reprise her role of Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson is set to return for Iron Man 3, it has emerged.

The actress played Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff, in the second movie as an assistant to Robert Downey Jr‘s hero, and reprises the role in the forthcoming Marvel Avengers Assemble.

Now, according to Latio Review a casting call for the third film in the series confirms the character as returning.

The move will likely delay any potential solo outing for the character, which would be the first in the current generation of Marvel blockbusters to feature a female lead. Johnasson herself has expressed a desire to do it. She said recently: “I love playing the Widow. I think she’s got a very interesting past, a lot of storylines to explore, and certainly [producer] Kevin [Feige] loves that character.”

Marvel recently announced a three-issue mini-series The Avengers: Black Widow Strikes based on Johansson’s portrayal.

Marvel Avengers Assemble opens in the UK on April 26. You can watch the trailer below.
