Designs for a young version of Thanos have been revealed in newly shared concept art for Avengers: Infinity War.
The new designs, shared by Marvel’s Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding, track the character through his childhood until the point that we know him best.
The film’s creators have previously revealed that Thanos’ story in Infinity War could have been very different, with a previous idea revealed to have the character narrating the entire movie.
Meinerding also revealed earlier this week that the film was originally set to dig into his backstory from birth, saying we’d have seen Thanos “having an actual teen moment of being that seven-foot tall awkward teenager”.
New photos of the film’s concept art shared to his Instagram now reveal just what that would’ve looked like.
“Thanos age progression!” Meinerding captioned his post. “This was done when we were going to show more of his backstory in the film. The ages are meant to be how old the audience would see him, not how old he actually is.”
An NME review of Avengers: Infinity War said the film was “another mammoth slice of superhero mayhem”.
“Infinity War is under pressure to be the most exhilarating experience yet, but it sometimes sacrifices story for spectacle. For the most part though, this bonkers blockbuster is an entertaining and surprisingly emotional flick that will keep everybody happy.”
