The Captain Kirk actor teases the sci-fi sequel
Chris Pine has described the forthcoming Star Trek sequel as “relentless”.
The actor plays Captain Kirk in the big screen reboot of the classic space opera, and has almost completed shooting on the follow-up.
And while huge secrecy still surrounds JJ Abrams‘ movie, Pine did tell Access Hollywood: “Of course I’m gonna tell you I think it’s gonna be better. You pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters – I think – is just as exciting as the first one.”
He added: “And it’s relentless. I think that’s the best adjective I can use… it’s just as action-packed as the first.”
Star Trek 2 is due for release next summer, and will see returning cast members Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana and Uhuru and Simon Pegg as Scotty. Benedict Cumberbatch has meanwhile been cast as the as-yet-unnamed villain.
It had been predicted that the villain would be Kahn, as portrayed by Ricardo Montalban in the original Star Trek II, but Abrams has since cast doubt on this.
