Star Trek Into Darkness has unveiled a new motion poster. Scroll down to the bottom of this article to watch it.
The intriguing teaser shows boulders falling from the sky over the cityscape from the film’s static poster. It features an ominous voiceover from Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the film’s mysterious villain.
Cumberbatch says: “You think your world is safe. It is an illusion, a comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace, for I have returned to have my vengeance.” After a dramatic pause, he adds: “So, shall we begin?”
Back in December (2012), director JJ Abrams shed some light on Cumberbatch’s character, saying: “His name is John Harrison and he is sort of an average. That is what makes him so scary – he is just an average guy who works in an organization called Starfleet, and he turns against the group because he has got this back-story and this kind of amazing secret agenda.”
Alongside Cumberbatch, Star Trek Into Darkness reunites Chris Pine‘s Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Spock and Simon Pegg’s Scotty. The film, which also stars Zoe Saldana and Anton Yelchin, opens in cinemas on May 17 this year (2013). Click here for NME‘s run-down of everything we know so far.
