During the premiere, Princes William and Harry made their way down the red carpet to be greeted by BB-8, who features in the new film after making its debut in The Force Awakens.
The robot was then seen bowing to the Princes in footage you can see below.
William and Harry later spoke to members of The Last Jedi cast, including John Boyega, Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley.
Director Rian Johnson dedicated the LA premiere to the late Carrie Fisher in a speech, reflecting on what he thought Fisher would be thinking if she was watching.
“I want to dedicate tonight to Carrie, who is up there right now flipping me the bird, saying, ‘Damn it Rian, don’t you dare make this night a solemn tribute,’” he said, adding: “So let’s all have a blast tonight for Carrie.”
