Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley has recorded music with Barbra Streisand

Rumoured studio sessions from last weekend have been revealed

After speculation last week (February 26), Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley has revealed that she has been recording music with singing legend Barbra Streisand.

Ridley – who plays lead female Rey in Stars Wars: The Force Awakens and it’s forthcoming follow up, Episode VIII – was tipped off by director JJ Abrams, who had previously said that the actress had a ‘beautiful voice’ at a charity award event.

Today, according to Digital Spy, she has revealed that her partner is non other than Barbra Streisand, when Ridley made the announcement on Twitter earlier today (March 2):

Streisand is known for a long history of musical duets, including penning songs with Elvis Presley, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Celine Dion and Judy Garland.

Meanwhile, Ridley spoke yesterday (March 1) of her excitement for the next Star Wars film, revealing details about the current filming process.

Star Wars: Episode VIII is expected to be released in 2017, with British actress Ridley (who was introduced as Rey in Episode VII: The Force Awakens) joking to MTV News: “It’s two hours of me and Mark Hamill staring at each other.”

Ridley added that she and Hamill “have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing”. She continued: “[Hamill is] amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff. It’s such a good story, seriously… Luke is so cool in this one. Really!”

It is believed that there will be a “special team with drones” at the new site, alongside 600 guards and round-the-clock security with reports estimating that the total cost of security will be $4.3 million (£3.04m).

Cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega will return for Episode VIII, along with the introduction of Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, Sin City) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Wild).

Episode VIII will be preceded by a spin-off called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla).
