Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley reportedly recording a song with ‘massive music superstar’

Star Wars director J.J. Abrams has hinted at Ridley's possible move into music today

Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley is reportedly moving into music as she records her first song, it has been rumoured today (26 February).

The actress – who is known for her depiction of Rey in the new Disney produced trilogy – has today been hinted to be recording a song with a well known producer this weekend, according to the film’s director.

According to the Mirror, J.J. Abrams spoke about Daisy’s ‘other talent’ and hinted that the star was recording music with a huge name. “On Saturday, this weekend (27), she is going to record a song with an unnamed person, but let’s just say a massive superstar.”

Speaking at the US-Ireland Alliance’s Oscar Wilde Awards, he said: “One day on set, she just start singing and had the most beautiful voice I ever heard”

The actress was filmed singing ‘Baby Its Cold Outside’ with Star Wars Episode VIII co star Oscar Isaac in December 2015. Watch that below.

Meanwhile, Ridley and new director Rian Johnson hinted that filming on Star Wars: Episode VIII was to begin February 8.

Both the actor and director posted images on social media suggesting work was about to begin on the follow-up to last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You can see exclusive behind the scenes pictures from the Star Wars Episode VIII set here

Posting on her Instagram page, Ridley captioned a photo of a bouquet of flowers with the hashtag #VIII. The picture also shows the top of a letter, with the numerals in bold.

According to Digital Spy, Johnson also made a similar cryptic post, but quickly deleted it.

The director’s post appeared on Tumblr, and was of Pinewood Studios accompanied by the caption “Getting close…”.

Ridley, who plays Rey in The Force Awakens, recently revealed that director JJ Abrams called her acting “wooden” on the first day of filming.

In an interview published in the January 2015 issue of Glamour, the actor said, “JJ… probably doesn’t remember telling me that my performance was wooden. This was the first day! And I honestly wanted to die.

“I thought I was gonna cry,” she continues. “I couldn’t breathe. And there was so many crew there, because obviously all the creatures [had stand-ins], and there were loads of extra crew making sure everyone was safe because it was so hot. It was awful.”
