'Kolma' is based on an Israeli film and tells story of woman given chance to go back in time
Star Wars director J.J. Abrams will produce new fantasy film Kolma, with Daisy Ridley reportedly set to take the lead role.
Ridley was plucked from obscurity to play Rey in Abrams’ record-breaking The Force Awakens and he will produce this new fantasty thriller as part of his Bad Robot production company. THR states that the British actress will take the lead role with Diary of a Teenage Girl’s Marielle Heller rumoured to direct.
Kolma is based on a Israeli TV movie called All I’ve Got and tells the story of a woman who loses her boyfriend in a fatal car crash. She comes to terms with her loss and moves on, eventually getting married and starting a new family. However, when she dies later in life she is offered the chance to go back to the day of the crash and be with her former lover. The only catch; if she does so she loses all memory of the life she built after he died.
Daisy Ridley is currently hot property and is rumoured to be appearing in the next Tomb Raider film.
It was recently reported that Ridley is one of a number of actresses being considered for an upcoming Tomb Raider reboot though no offers have been made at this stage. Angelina Jolie famously played Croft in two films, including 2003 sequel Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life
Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released last December and represented Ridley’s first major screen role. Production is currently underway for follow-up Episode VIII, which will be written and directed by Rian Johnson. That film is expected for release in 2017.
