‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ – JJ Abrams releases Millennium Falcon video – watch

Abrams responds to Zack Snyder's stormtrooper tweet

JJ Abrams has teased Star Wars fans by releasing a video of the Millennium Falcon as it will appear in Episode VII.

As the camera pans around Han Solo’s spacecraft to the opening strains of the Star Wars soundtrack, the music changes to the Dark Knight theme and a Batmobile is revealed attached to the underside of the Millennium Falcon.

Abrams’ nod to Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the latest round of viral banter between the two directors and follows Snyder’s recent parody image released via twitter. It shows a stormtrooper being arrested for stealing the Batmobile. The caption reads, “Case closed.”

In other Star Wars news, C3PO actor Anthony Daniels has revealed his droid character will appear in Episode VII without the use of CGI trickery in the action scenes.

Meanwhile, a set picture has been leaked that shows Adam Driver wearing an X-Wing fighter pilot’s uniform. Various reports had speculated the Girls actor would be playing a villain but the image suggests he may not be fighting for the dark side of the force.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the sequel to Man of Steel, is currently shooting in Detroit and stars Ben Affleck as the ageing Bruce Wayne. The film is due in cinemas April 29, 2016.

Abrams’ sequel takes place 30 years after the events of Return Of The Jedi. Plot details were leaked online last month which suggest the film will focus on the search for missing Jedi Master Luke Skywalker against the backdrop of the threat posed by a weapon of mass destruction.

Alongside the returning trio of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, JJ Abrams has also cast Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac and British actress Christina Chong.

Star Wars: Episode VII will hit cinemas December 2015.
