The force is strong...
Star Wars legend Mark Hamill is to become immortalised on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The screen icon, best known for playing Luke Skywalker, will become the 2,630th star to be bestowed with the honour at a special ceremony on March 8.
The ceremony will reportedly take place in front of the famous El Capitan movie theatre, where he’ll be joined by Star Wars creator George Lucas and co-star Harrison Ford.
“Can’t say this is a dream come true because I was never foolish enough to think something like this could ever happen”, Hamill wrote on Instagram.
“When part of me doubts I deserve such an honor, I remind myself that someone got a ‘Star’ for just one crappy reality show.”
He also received a gentle ribbing from Star Trek’s William Shatner, himself a former recipient of the honour.
“Congratulations! BTW ask for a star on the south side of the street. I’m on the north side and don’t want to devalue the neighborhood”, he wrote.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, said that Star Wars fans would be “over the moon” to see the Luke Skywalker actor honoured with a star.
“We are proud to add this extraordinary actor on our historic Walk of Fame”, she said.
