‘Star Wars: The Complete Saga’ sets Blu-ray record

$84 million earned from pre-orders alone

Star Wars: The Complete Saga has become the fastest selling Blu-ray boxset of all time, selling over a million copies through worldwide pre-order.

In a statement released by Lucasfilm, Senior Director of Marketing, Kayleen Walters said:

Once again our fans’ enthusiasm to celebrate Star Wars continues to amaze us. Our goal was to deliver a premium product that they could enjoy with their family and friends and we are thrilled that they are enjoying it as much as we hoped they would.

Fans of the Star Wars films called for a boycott of the Blu-ray edition in response to the film’s creator, George Lucas, changing some elements of the original films.

But the campaign was largely ignored with Star Wars: The Complete Saga becoming the Number One pre-order and Number One Blu-ray catalogue seller since the format began.

The nine-disc edition contains all six films, commentaries, behind the scenes footage, deleted scenes and a host of other material. It is available to buy now.
