Stephen Merchant’s ‘Hello Ladies’ releases first trailer – watch

HBO series loosely based on 'The Office' co-creator's 2011 stand-up

The first teaser trailer for Stephen Merchant‘s Hello Ladies has been released – you can watch it by scrolling down the page and clicking ‘play’.

The short, 20-second clip sees Stuart, played by Merchant, and his friend Wade (Nate Torrance) awkwardly attempt to chat up two women in a bar, and somehow bring up abortion as the topic of conversation.

Hello Ladies, which is loosely based on Merchant’s 2011 stand-up of the same name, is directed by the Extras creator. He shares the writing credits with Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who both co-wrote NBC’s version of the Office.
