The new movie is a sequel to the 1973 Jack Nicholson-starring 'The Last Detail'
Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne are in advanced talks to star in Boyhood director Richard Linklater’s new film, Last Flag Flying.
Linklater’s next project is a sequel to the 1973 comedy-drama The Last Detail, which starred Jack Nicholson and Randy Quaid.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the three heavyweight actors are likely to take up prominent roles in the new film, which is being adapted from author Darryl Ponicsan’s 2005 novel The Last Flag, itself a sequel to The Last Detail, which was published in 1970 and adapted for the screen three years later.
Reports also claim that Amazon Studios have picked up the film, which recently released Woody Allen’s new film Cafe Society and Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon.
It is expected to start filming in November.
