Bennett Miller's true-life drama makes UK premiere at the London Film Festival October 16
Steve Carell reveals his dark side as convicted killer John du Pont in the latest trailer for Foxcatcher.
Bennet Miller’s film makes its UK premiere at the London Film Festival tomorrow (October 16).
Capote director Miller follows Moneyball with another real-life tale, this time based on the story of a twisted millionaire. Carell, the star of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and the US version of The Office, wears a prosthetic nose to become du Pont in the true-life drama.
Ahead of the Seoul games of 1988 du Pont bankrolled the training of Olympic gold-winning wrestler brothers Dave and Mark Schultz (Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum). They joined his Foxcatcher team before events took a sinister turn.
Tipped for an Oscar nomination, Carell won plaudits for his performance when the film premiered at the Cannes Festival in May. The actor could follow in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman who won an Oscar for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in The Hours. The Australian actress wore a prosthetic nose for the part. Foxcatcher will be released in UK cinemas January 9.
Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as The Hulk in next summer’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Channing Tatum is working on a follow-up to male stripper comedy Magic Mike and will be seen next in Jupiter Ascending – the sci-fi adventure from Matrix-makers the Wachowskis.
