Steve Coogan is considering a new Alan Partridge chat show with real guests

Coogan says he wants to mock guests 'in a way that is a bit edgy'

Steve Coogan has revealed that he is considering making a new Alan Partridge chat show.

His parody chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You famously ended with Partridge accidentally shooting a guest and attacking a BBC commissioning editor. However, Coogan is now weighing up the idea of unleashing Norfolk’s finest on real-life celebrity guests.

“We might do a real one, with real guests. I don’t know. We are having a think about it,” Coogan revealed on Alan Carr’s Channel 4 chat show last night (March 17).

“Thing is we really want to make fun of the guests in a way that is a bit edgy,” he added. “I interviewed Elton John once and made fun of his propensity of buying huge bouquets of flowers and being a gay ex pothead. He was great. He wore his pink suit to look extra gay for us. It was nice.”

Alan Partridge is currently appearing in the second season of his Sky Atlantic show Mid Morning Matters, whose final episode airs this Monday (March 22). He made his big screen debut in 2013’s well-received heist movie Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa.
