‘Superman’ actress Amy Adams joins Paul Thomas Anderson’s Scientology movie

Adams will shoot the film before playing Lois Lane

Actress Amy Adams has joined the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s forthcoming Scientology movie.

Adams was recently confirmed to play Clark Kent‘s love interest Lois Lane in Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot Man Of Steel.

Now, she has signed up to star in a film based around the life of Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard, according to Deadline.com.

Adams is set to play the wife of Phillip Seymour Hoffman‘s character, a Navy veteran known as ‘The Master’, who starts his own belief system after trying to come to terms with the horrors of WWll.

Joaquin Phoenix has also been linked to the role of Hoffman‘s right-hand man, who becomes disillusioned with the faith. Adams was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in The Fighter.

Reports have recently suggested that influential Scientologists in Hollywood have been trying to block production on the film, fearing that it could reveal too much about the inner workings of the faith.
