They join Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons in the second season of the acclaimed TV drama
Ted Danson and Patrick Wilson have signed up for the second season of the Fargo TV series.
They join previously announced cast members Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons in Season Two, which will take the action back to 1979 and feature a new group of characters. Jean Smart, known for her roles in Frasier and Designing Women, will also be a main cast member during the new run.
Meanwhile, Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman has signed up for a recurring role in season two – as have Burn Notice‘s Jeffrey Donovan and Kieran Culkin, younger brother of Macauley.
Dunst and Plemons will play husband and wife Peggy and Ed Blomquist, while Danson will appear as sheriff Hank Larsson and Smart will portray a family matriarch called Floyd Gerhard. Wilson will play former state trooper Lou Solverson, the role originated by Keith Carradine in season one.
The first season of Fargo also starred Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Colin Hanks and Allison Tolman, none of whom will be returning. The show’s creator Noah Hawley has teased that Season Two will revolve around an incident that occurred in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, which was often mentioned during the first season.
