Arnold Schwarzenegger returns for the fifth 'Terminator' film, which opens in cinemas on July 1
A new teaser for Terminator Genisys has been unveiled by Paramount Pictures – and it features the immortal line “I’ll be back”.
The promo clip will be shown during NBC’s coverage of the annual Super Bowl this Sunday (February 1), traditionally the most-watched broadcast of the year on US TV, where 30-second advertising spots have been sold for an average $4.5 million (£3 million) each.
The fifth instalment in the Terminator series sees Arnold Schwarzenegger return to the iconic title role for the first time since 2003. He is joined by Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke, who takes on the role of Sarah Connor made famous by Linda Hamilton, as well as by Jai Courtney, Jason Clarke and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) directed from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry). The film was shot between April and August of this year in New Orleans and San Francisco, using an estimated production budget of $170 million (£110 million).
Terminator Genisys is set to open in cinemas on July 1, 2015. The franchise’s last instalment, Terminator Salvation starring Christian Bale and Sam Worthington, opened in 2009 to poor reviews and performed relatively disappointingly at the box office worldwide. Bale admitted last month (December) that his Terminator film “didn’t work”.
