‘The Big Lebowski’ star John Turturro wants spin-off

But directors the Coen Brothers are currently standing in the way

The Big Lebowski actor John Turturro has expressed his desire to make a spin-off to the classic bowling comedy.

Turturro, who can currently be seen in robot sequel Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has said that he has an idea for a spin-off from the 1998 film following the further exploits of his character Jesus Quintana. But directors Joel and Ethan Coen are currently standing in the way of the project getting off the ground.

He told the AV Club: “Joel and Ethan don’t really want to do it, but if I can get them to approve my outline, which I think they liked… there’s a very good chance of making it.”

The Coens have said in the past that a sequel was not out of the question, but that they would likely not be involved should it ever happen. Joel said in 2009: “That movie has more of an enduring fascination for other people than it does for us.”

Last year, Jeff Bridges also admitted that he is keen to reprise his role of The Dude in a sequel.
