‘The Harry Hill Movie’ to open in cinemas this December

Joining Hill on his first big screen adventure are Julie Walters, Simon Bird and Matt Lucas

The Harry Hill Movie has been given an official release date.

Hill’s first big screen adventure, which co-stars Julie Walters, The Inbetweeners‘ Simon Bird and Matt Lucas, will open in UK cinemas on December 20 this year (2013). The Magic Numbers will also appear as the owners of a Blackpool B&B.

An official synopsis for the film has also been released and suggests the big-collared TV favourite will be just as off-the-wall on the big screen. It describes the action as follows.

“When Harry and his Nan (Julie Walters) discover their hamster is seriously ill they set off on a road trip to Blackpool pursued by a lunatic vet (Simon Bird). Along the way, Harry falls in love with an undersea shell person (Sheridan Smith), witnesses canine superstars The Dachsund Five, and meets indie rock band The Magic Numbers – who run a B&B. It all culminates in a fight on top of The Blackpool Tower. Who could be behind it all? Could it be Harry’s evil twin Otto (Matt Lucas), who was separated from Harry at birth and brought up by Alsatians? Based on a true story, it’s all-singing, all-dancing family entertainment from the big collared loon himself.”

Experienced comedy director Steve Bendelack (The League Of Gentlemen, Little Britain) called the shots from a script co-written by Hill – real name Matthew Keith Hall – and the film’s supporting cast also includes Jim Broadbent, The Mighty Boosh‘s Julian Barratt and Shingai Shoniwa from Noisettes.

Hill said in a statement: “I can’t wait for everyone to see my movie in December. It’s full of all the traditional festive family fun – evil twins, brains with legs, giant hamsters and chickens with guns.”
