The new ‘Fifty Shades’ trailer is more popular than the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ trailer

'Fifty Shades Darker' trailer has set a new record for most views in the first 24 hours

The trailer for the new Fifty Shades film, Fifty Shades Darker, has become the most-watched ever in its first day of streaming.

The trailer, which features Miguel soundtracking the visuals with a cover of Beyoncé‘s ‘Crazy In Love’, racked up a massive 114 million views in 24 hours after being released on Wednesday (September 14).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this breaks the previous 24 hour record of 112 million views set by the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it premiered in April 2015.

Fifty Shades Darker will be released worldwide on Valentine’s Day 2017 (February 14). The new film is the second in a planned trilogy based on E.L. James’ best-selling series of erotic novels.

The stars of 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, are reprising their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey respectively, joined once again by Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden and Jennifer Ehle and by new cast members including Kim Basinger.

Fifty Shades Of Grey was the big winner at last year’s Razzie Awards, the annual ceremony rewarding the worst of Hollywood, taking home five prizes including Worst Actor for Dornan and Worst Actress for Johnson.
