The actors who could potentially replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo when the character returns in a Star Wars prequel have been narrowed down to just three, reports say.
Disney recently confirmed that a 2018 Star Wars spin-off film will tell the origins stories of both Han Solo and Chewbacca, with Rogue One and Episode VIII expected to arrive ahead of the spin-off movie.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the final three actors in contention to play the younger Solo are Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (The Kingsman).
The trio is said to have been brought through to the final round at the expense of more than 2,500 others who auditioned for the role. All three are said to have attended auditions in London in the past week.
The Solo/ Chewbacca spin-off doesn’t have a formal title as of yet, but will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (Lego Movie).
The first photo emerged from the set of Star Wars: Episode 8 a few days ago, courtesy of director Rian Johnson. “Hard to believe we’re wrapping up week four already, it’s just flying by,” Johnson posted to his Tumblr, referencing the ongoing filming.
Meanwhile, the release date has been confirmed for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD. It will come on April 5 in the US and April 18 in the UK.
