Tim Allen has spoken more about Keanu Reeves’ mysterious role in Toy Story 4.
The upcoming sequel to the much-loved Disney/Pixar franchise will hit cinemas on June 21, 2019, with much of the original cast returning. A pair of trailers dropped last week, with the latter clip featuring new characters who are voiced by comedian double act Key & Peele.
Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear, has now spoken further on Toy Story 4, telling Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last night (November 21) that the movie will “really surprise you.”
Allen also previewed Reeves’ new character, saying that the Matrix actor “has got a great part”.
“Actually, a little inside story, even [Reeves] said – gentle, wonderful guy that he is – ‘[His character] sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear’ and his character does have an edge to that – and the guy said, ‘So we calmed him down a little bit’.” Watch the interview with Allen below.
A brief synopsis of Toy Story 4 was provided along with the reveal of the first trailer last week. “Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie,” it reads. “But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.”
Earlier this month, Tom Hanks – who voices Woody – opened up about how he felt recording his final lines for Toy Story 4, which is expected to be the final chapter in the animated series.
