Untitled project has reportedly been snapped up by Warner Bros
Tom Cruise has signed up to star in a new political drama by writer Dan Fogelman.
Cruise will take the lead role of a politician who is caught having an affair and returns to his hometown a broken man, reports Deadline.com.
The project has reportedly been snapped by Warner Bros after a bidding war between five studios.
Cruise will pocket up to $5 million (£3 million) for starring in the film – $2 million up front and a further $3 million if the movie gets made – according to the news source.
Before starting work on the political drama, Cruise is to star in the movie version of hit musical Rock Of Ages.
The role will see him perform several rock songs of the ’70s and ’80s, including Styx‘s ‘Renegade’ and Bon Jovi‘s ‘Wanted Dead Or Alive’.
