It has been revealed that Tom Hardy married his fiancée, the actress Charlotte Riley, in a secret ceremony on July 4.
The actor, who played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, met Riley on the set of Wuthering Heights in 2009. They were engaged the following year.
The Daily Mail reports (via The Sun on Sunday) the couple tied the knot during a small ceremony at the Chateau de Roussan in the South of France two months ago.
A source told the newspaper: “It was a beautiful, low-key day made even more special because they just had their closest friends and family around them. There was nothing flash about the wedding, they always said they wanted it to be about the two of them and their family rather than any grand gesture.”
Hardy has just finished filming the gangster drama Legend. In the biopic he plays both Reggie and Ronnie Kray.
He will be seen next on screen in The Drop alongside Sopranos star James Gandolfini in his last film role.
In The Drop Gandolfini plays Brooklyn bar owner Marv. Caught up in the criminal underworld his bar is a holding location for dirty money before it’s laundered. Based on his short story ‘Animal Rescue’ the film is scripted by Shutter Island writer Dennis Lehane.
Hardy plays Marv’s cousin Bob who works as a bartender and gets drawn into the action when local low lifes rob the bar and a thug (Matthias Schoenaerts) threatens to steal his dog. Also starring Noomi Rapace (Prometheus, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) the film is directed by Michael R Roskam (Bullhead).
The Drop will be released in UK cinemas November 14. Watch the trailer below.
