A spectacular new trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road has been released by Warner Bros.
The first Mad Max film in 30 years sees Tom Hardy take over the iconic title role from Mel Gibson, flanked by a supporting cast that includes Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Hugh Keays-Byrne, who appeared in the original 1979 Mad Max film.
George Miller, who directed the first two Mad Max films and co-directed the third, returned to shoot the fourth instalment and recently described Fury Road as a “westerns on wheels”.
The film’s official synopsis teases: “Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa (Theron).
“They are escaping a Citadel tyrannised by the Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne), from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.”
Mad Max: Fury Road is scheduled to open in cinemas on May 15 next year.
