Tom Hiddleston has suggested his own Marvel match-up, using an interview to pitch his evil character Loki in a battle against his friend Benedict Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange in a forthcoming movie named after this character.
Hiddleston isn’t quite sure how the battle might take place, but does throw in a curveball with Daredevil mentioned as another possible attendee.
Hiddleston has appeared as Loki in Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), and Thor: The Dark World (2013).
He told the New York Daily News: “In some hypothetical world, I don’t quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed. Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend so I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand.”
He continued “We would probably just be comparing costumes! That’s what happens on set, is just everyone starts laughing at each other because the costumes are so extreme. You’re standing there with the crew, everyone holding styrofoam cups of coffee and everyone is wearing very brightly coloured leather, that’s highly entertaining.”
The first trailer for Doctor Strange dropped earlier this week, and can be seen via YouTube, below:
The clip shows Cumberbatch’s character, a surgeon by profession, coming to terms with his powers and also encountering the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).
The “Ancient One” character has always been a male in Marvel’s Doctor Strange comic books, but the film’s producers have decided to make the character female for the film.
Doctor Strange will be the next Marvel film to arrive in cinemas after Captain America: Civil War launches in May, and is scheduled for November 4.
