Surprisingly tame promo for director's controversial film unveiled
A trailer for the second volume of Lars von Trier’s controversial Nymphomaniac series has been revealed – scroll down and click to watch.
The erotic film project, which has been criticised for its graphic sex scenes, is set to open in two parts on March 21 and April 18, 2014. Unlike the trailer for the first volume, which was released in December last year and was decidedly NSFW, the clip for the second instalment is less graphic – although it does still include some sexual content.
Nymphomaniac traces the sexual progress of a woman, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, from her youth to the age of 50, while Shia LaBeouf co-stars as a seedy office worker named Jerome. LaBeouf previously revealed that he had sent pictures of his own penis to the film’s producers to help him land the role.
Alongside Gainsbourg and LaBeouf, von Trier has attracted a bumper ensemble cast for the project including Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Stellan Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe and Connie Nielsen.
