‘True Blood’ actor Luke Grimes joins ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ cast

Signing follows news that Jamie Dornan has been cast as the new male lead

True Blood actor Luke Grimes has joined the cast of Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Grimes, who recently played the love interest to Deborah Ann Woll in the latest series of the hit HBO show, has signed on to appear in the film adaptation of EL James’ raunchy novel, according to E! Online.

His signing follows news last Wednesday (October 23) that Jamie Dornan (pictured right) had been cast as the new male lead in the movie. Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam was originally hired to play sexually adventurous businessman Christian Grey but dropped out earlier this month (October) citing his “immersive TV schedule”.

According to Variety, Nothern Irish actor Dornan – best known his roles in US fantasy series Once Upon A Time and BBC Two’s hit serial killer drama The Fall – has been drafted in to replace him. American actor Billy Magnussen is said to have undergone screen tests for the role too before Dornan bagged the role.

Dakota Johnson will co-star as Anastasia Steele, the college graduate who enters into an intense sexual relationship with the older and dominant Grey. Pride And Prejudice actress Jennifer Ehle has signed up to play Steele’s mother and the film’s makers are now in the process of casting other key support roles.

Nowhere Boy‘s Sam Taylor-Wood is on board as director and the film is due to start shooting next month (November) in Vancouver. Fifty Shades Of Grey will open in cinemas on August 1, 2014.
