‘Twilight’ makers to sue fansite

Summit Entertainment claim Twilight.com breach copyright law

The makers of Twilight, Summit Entertaiment, are suing the owner of the fansite for unauthorised use of copyrighted material.

In a statement about the lawsuit, towards Twilight.com owner Tom Markson, Summit said:

Summit learned that the defendant is using the Twilight intellectual property on his website in a variety of ways, including posting links to download Twilight recordings, posting links for unauthorised Twilight contests and fake casting calls for the Twilight motion pictures.

The lawsuit states that Summit had previously served a cease and desist order to Tom Markson in April 2009, but that Markson denied the claims the following month.

Markson is alleged to have, without authorisation, generated revenue from Summit’s intellectual property through advertising, banner advertising, sponsored links and various affiliated programmes.

The case is ongoing.
