‘Twilight’ named worst movie of all time

Brains behind 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' slam vampire franchise...

Twilight has been named as the worst movie of all time, according to the website Rifftrax.com.

The site is run by three former cast members of the cult US comedy TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000, with Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett discussing what they believe to be the worst films of all time and, in their latest entry on the 25 Worst Movies Of All Time, they pick the teen vampire franchise in the top spot.

Speaking about the film, they simply said: “There’s a lot to cover in this vast, sprawling film series so let us try to boil it down for you: ‘Mumble mumble mumble moon eyes. Mumble mumble mumble mumble lay in a field. Mumble mumble mumble perv on a baby. Mumble.'”

The oft-panned 1997 film Batman and Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher, is in second place, with the Halle Berry-starring Catwoman in third, Spider-Man 3 in fourth and The Last Airbender in fifth. To read the full list, visit Rifftrax.com.

The final installment in the Twilight saga, titled Breaking Dawn – Part 2, opened in cinemas last month. It earned an estimated $341millon (£215million) worldwide at its opening weekend in November to become the eighth biggest movie debut in US cinema history.

Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has seemingly dismissed the idea that she could ever reprise her role as Bella Swan in the future. In a video interview on NME.COM, which you can watch by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking, Stewart said it was time for people to leave the character alone and “let her be happy”.
